Great Stay for a Family Vacay!
We were 1st time renters in Lake Harmony and we were not disappointed.
My husband and I took our 5 adult children (ages 18-23), 1 grandson (age 2years), 1 granddaughter (age 7 months), and our Belgian Malinois (age 3 years) on a week-long family vacation. Having been to Amish country in the past, we were looking for a place that was within driving distance to the Lancaster area and New York City. This property was perfect! The house looks just like the pictures (we were all rather impressed!) and had plenty of room for everyone to spread out without getting lost. There were plenty of dishware, kitchen utensils, etc. to make meals. The hot tub was a big hit! The master bed was really comfortable, which is a big deal for someone with RLS and sleep disorders. The air conditioning was spot on as the temps were near 100* and the humidity was heavy in the air.
We saw several deer outside each morning/evening and the neighborhood is great for morning/evening walks. The area is quiet and cozy. We spent a couple of days at Big Boulder Lake (friendly, welcoming staff) kayaking and canoeing.
One thing that really stood out about our experience renting this property was the owner. He was in constant communication, answering questions, offering information about the area, extending superb customer service when we expressed a family need, and responded quickly to every single email (and there were plenty--this was the first time we'd taken our adult kids/grandkids on a trip like this!).
If you're thinking about renting a property in this area and have a large group, I'd recommend this property. The space, the quiet, the views, the comfy bed, and the nearby activities make it worth it. And, be sure to check out Terra Cottage for breakfast (such a great ambiance), rent a kayak or two, and be sure to watch out for the deer --there's a cute deer family (with 3 fawns!) that love to roam the backyard.
Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your lovely home with us. We had a wonderful time and if we're in the area again, we'll be sure to check the calendar to see if your place is available.

Great Vacation Rental
We had a good experience renting this house two weekends ago. The house is well maintained, has a great location with a fantastic view, and nice amenities. The house has enough rooms and beds to accommodate a large group very comfortably. We would absolutely return.

I would give the property a full five stars, and the owner (his responsiveness, and utmost dedication 6 stars!).
Two families drove out from NJ to PA in what turned out to be a very treacherous storm earlier this month. Our 1.5 hour drive turned out to be almost 8 hours, with hungry kids in the cars, downed trees, road closures everywhere. Everyone was pretty bummed out when we finally got to Big Boulder area, and we ready to hear everyone complaining once we got out of the cars. Well when we went into this Big Boulder home, it was a sign of the inflection point to the weekend of the great things to come. All the kids (and adults) were in awe of the beauty of the home, and it lacking for nothing. We planned to trip for our last ski getaway of the season, but almost everyone remarked that it would be worth just hanging out at the house for the rest of the trip, as it was spacious, well kept, and lots to do!
The next day however, when seeing the Ski Resort literally in stone's throw of the house, well, we decided to make the best of the location too. The great mountain views were hard to resist heading over to the slopes.
Now on to the owner: We had several questions during our stay, and he was responsive EVERY time- even though he lost power at his residence. We are very appreciative of that. I would definitely recommend this property, although my only complaint is that I wish that our stay was longer.
-Lots to do: pool table, indoor hot tub, and lots more
- separate areas for kids and adults (even though everyone hung out together in our group)
(BTW we have stayed in the area several times, this by far was the best home and location)
